Welcome to my index. Almost all the stories here are from a slash perspective, some might be characterised as pre-slash and some have het aspects. Ratings vary. Genre and ratings, as well as length, warnings and disclaimers (where applicable), are included in the headers of the individual stories.

Links from the index are to various LJ communities or to my LJ [many headers also have links to Archive of Our Own (AO3)], none are to fanfiction.net. Bit by bit, I'll be changing the LJ links to DW ones.

If you proceed to reading, I hope you enjoy them. Feedback is very much appreciated.

Stories are grouped by fandom and listed alphabetically in each. Related stories are listed together.

Title: Penumbra (Winter Special)
Author: saki101
Rating: R
Characters and Pairings: Sherlock Holmes, John Watson, Sherlock/John, Mrs Hudson, Mrs Turner, Wiggins, Greg Lestrade, Mycroft Holmes, Molly Hooper, OCs
Word Count: ~41.7K (Chapters 38/38)
Summary: Autumn has faded into winter. As the days grow shorter, Holmeswood Manor celebrates the solstice.
Disclaimer: Neither Sherlock BBC nor Dark Shadows belong to me.
A/N: Written in a series of short chapters to the prompts of the 2020 Advent Ficlet Challenge and taking as inspiration the John and Sherlock of the Unaired Pilot.

Another instalment of the Penumbra series, which is a gothic AU of the Sherlock universe inspired by the universe of Dark Shadows (the 1966 television series).

Preview: In Maine, there was Collinwood and the three centuries of history that were woven into its walls. In London, there is Holmeswood Manor (or the Manor on Baker Street as the urban legends have it), tucked now into a city street when once its oak woods rolled from the heath to the river.

Series One Overview: John grew up with its stories of ghosts and wizards and things that hunt in the night. They didn’t keep him from interviewing for a residential post at the Manor because he couldn’t afford London on an army pension and there could not possibly have been any truth to the tales.

Series Two Overview: It's been more than a year since John came to live at the Manor on Baker Street. He has learned many things, one being that the stories hadn't prepared him for the half of it.

Summer Mini-episode: A glimpse of life in the season after the ball.

Winter Special: The winter solstice approaches. John's knowledge of the Manor and himself expands.

***
Excerpt: I turned back to the window. “I don’t recall this last year. Were we away?” I leaned out. The breeze was sharp. The sound of bells louder.

“No. I told you this summer that you were changing.”

Wild-eyed Jim in a crown

Another graphic for Penumbra (Series Two) that I originally posted on Tumblr and wanted to preserve here on DW. I managed to accomplish that with one other graphic about two years ago and apparently started the process on this one, but never finished it. (Timescales anyone?!) Also, I don't remember how I managed to get it into my DW images archive. Anyway, it's here now - Mad Jim from the Ball (otherwise known as Andrew Scott in the role of King Louis XI of France in The Hollow Crown).

JB as Hamlet from Wikipedia

Excerpt: “Where did you get a photograph of me?”

I laughed. “From that photographer you suspected of murder. You sat for a whole series in order to have plenty of time to converse with him and observe his reactions. You told him you were an actor and had me bring along changes of costume, stage make-up, and props - a skull and a riding crop. Surely you remember?”

Collage of images for series two of Penumbra

Penumbra is a fusion of Sherlock and Dark Shadows. Do you remember Dark Shadows?

In Maine, there was Collinwood and the three centuries of history that were woven into its walls. In London, there is Holmeswood Manor (or the Manor on Baker Street as the urban legends have it), tucked now into a city street when once its oak woods rolled from the heath to the river.

John grew up with its stories of ghosts and wizards and things that hunt in the night. They certainly didn’t keep him from interviewing for a residential post at the Manor because he couldn’t afford London on an army pension and was sure there couldn’t be any truth to those strange, old tales.

During Series One, John gained some insight into those while he considered whether he would make the Manor his home. A year on, in Series Two, we visit a wiser John, who has come to appreciate that the stories hadn’t half prepared him for the truth. And they had never, ever mentioned anyone remotely like Sherlock.

(This is my first attempt at saving a graphic that I'd created on tumblr for one of my stories.)
